What is meant by “Culture War”?
In 1991 James Davison Hunter wrote a book entitled, Cultural Wars, a war conducted primarily over family, art, education, law and politics. To this day the liberal left objects to the terminology of a cultural war. There are “Christians” who contend that the position of Christians is a passive and loving one, we do not go to war. Yet the Scriptures speak of this very thing in Ephesians 6 where we are told that we wrestle against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places and we must understand that these evil forces are at work in the people who are bringing sin and ruin to our country. Therefore, we are to “…take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore,” (vs 13-14). We, as believers in the Word of God, are to make a stand against the evil and we do so with the sword of the Word of God, while preaching the gospel. This is why I have written a book, Attack Evangelism, because until the Lord comes for us, we need to stand for His righteousness and holiness and be on the attack with His gospel. This passive attitude taken by the Church since the decade of the 60’s has proven to be a disaster. It is past time for the Lord’s people to get off their seats, onto their feet, and into the streets and go to war.
